Horses Available for Adoption
Willy is a Sr. POA gelding, small to medium height, approx. 25+
years old. He is currently pastured with Princess. He is MADLY in
love with Princess, even though she is probably three times his size.
Will can be pastured with young or old, mares or geldings, but we
think that "babysitting" is out of the question. When we tried to put
him in the main pasture with the older mares and Pelear and Farrah
he tried keeping up with the "babies." He ran so much we were
afraid he was going to have a heart attack!! Willy is your typical
senior, requiring a "mash" of beet pulp, alfalfa pellets, etc, so he's not
technically an easy keeper, but that's only where feed is concerned.
He enjoys 24/7 turnout and will tolerate being blanketed, although he
makes it clear that he really doesn't think he needs one.....
If you are interested in adoption, please email Darlene
@ darlene4hstuff@aol.com. Please let her know which
horse you are interested in, along with your contact
information.
Jesse is a 26 yr old Quarter Horse mare. She is an
experienced companion and babysitter, she has just
returned from a job doing just that, and is ready to go back
out to continue this type of "work." Jesse is an easy keeper
for her age---only requires regular hay and grain and is on
24/7 turnout.
Piper is a healthy 11 yr old Anglo/Arab Gelding,
standing 15.3. Piper did have extensive training in his
earlier years, but unfortunately that training was not
followed up and Piper regressed. He is willing to
learn and wants to please, but mostly Piper wants a
Job!! CERA has just learned that a local trainer will be
taking Piper for "refresher lessons" starting in March.
Piper has NO health issues and no reason to be
standing around bored at CERA's farm--help us find
him a home where he can work and be happy.
CJ is a 24 yr old sorrel/white Paint Mare. She has
excellent ground manners, very laid back. Gets
along well with other horses and has no vices. CJ
was diagnosed with Fibrotic Myopathy, but this is
maintained with a joint supplement. CJ is able to do
light trail riding, or would make a great pasture mate.
Senior pony mare (25+ years old,) bay medium sized
pony. Pumpkin is very leary of strangers and
currently does not do anything she doesn't want to
do--even if there's food involved. She will only come
up to eat if she's convinced herself that it is HER idea.
She is on 24/7 turnout, does not require blanketing
(thank goodness since she does NOT NOT NOT want
one!!) Again, she is your typical senior requiring a
"mash" of senior feed, beet pulp, alfalfa pellets. She
is typically a loner, although she is pastured with the
other senior mares and the two "babies."
Another Senior mare, approx. 25 years old. Previously
Blondie's long time pasture mate prior to Blondie being
adopted, she has settled in to a new "herd" consisting of Willy
and Piper. She is an Arab cross and is initially shy. I think that
with some basic groundwork, despooking, and establishing
trust, she will calm down and be less fearful. She MAY be
suitable for light riding, but we will wait for an update after a few
sessions under saddle. She is on your basic senior diet -
Senior feed, soaked alfalfa pellets, and beet pulp. Princess is
happy with 24/7 turnout and does not need or want blanketing
as she has a very nice full winter coat.
Sassy is a 29 yr old QH mare. She is partially blind, but
does not let that bother her. She still runs and plays in the
pasture with the other horses. She has excellent ground
manners. Sassy gets along well with other horses. She can
only be a pasture mate.
